Velike stepenice RUN race successfully completed

The third edition of the unique race on the Great Mostar Steps, which brought together over 100 participants, was held in the spirit of the global initiative No Elevators Day. No Elevators Day is a European initiative by ISCA (International Sport and Culture Association), with KINEZIS acting as the coordinator of the event in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The “Healthy Life – KINEZIS” association emphasizes that this event aims to promote the use of stairs in everyday life, highlighting how modern living conditions lead to a lack of movement and daily physical activity.

While it may seem like nothing is achieved by replacing elevators with stairs just for one day, over a week, month, or year, this simple change can lead to significant progress and improve overall physical activity levels. This is precisely the goal behind organizing this race.

Franjo Lovrić, president of the “Healthy Life – KINEZIS” association, points out that physical activity levels are alarmingly low across Europe and the Western Balkans.

“The most telling fact is that physical inactivity has become the fourth leading risk factor for mortality worldwide, as confirmed by the World Health Organization. WHO is launching more and more initiatives encouraging movement, and we believe that in the future, physical activity will become increasingly important for everyday functioning and a higher quality of life,” Lovrić emphasized.
