The humanitarian side of Mostar Run Weekend – Playrooms opened for children at SKB Mostar

On the occasion of International Children’s Day, the KINEZIS association equipped two playrooms within the Children’s Clinic of the University Clinical Hospital Mostar.

This marked the full realization of the humanitarian side of the Mostar Run Weekend, which saw 1,294 participants take part in the 4-kilometer Citizens’ Run! “This many runners supported our cause this year, and after deducting the costs of shirts and timing chips, we raised 24,000 KM,” highlighted Prof. Franjo Lovrić, president of the KINEZIS association. All other organizational costs for the race were covered by the patronage of the President of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Government, Mrs. Marija Buhač.

Our initiative was further supported by employees from the companies Nsoft and Rolla, who raised an additional 8,300 KM, which was added to our total! Volunteers also contributed their time and talents to designing the playrooms: architect Rea Rozić Musa, as well as artists Maja Rubinić and Karla Ćosić, who painted the walls.

Dr. Marija Novaković Bošnjak, head of the Children’s Clinic at SKB Mostar, thanked KINEZIS for this initiative, emphasizing that the playrooms will greatly ease the hospitalization experience for young patients and improve their perception of the hospital. “The whole idea was to make the stay of children who, unfortunately, need to be in the hospital as pleasant and relaxing as possible. Based on the initial reactions of the children, I can say that we have truly succeeded in that, and that is what makes us happy,” concluded Dr. Novaković Bošnjak.

The Mostar Run Weekend will maintain its humanitarian character next year, with participants in the Citizens’ Run continuing to contribute to positive social change through their running.

Let us also recall that through organizing humanitarian races, KINEZIS has previously helped and raised awareness for the importance of work done by the Down Syndrome Association Mostar, the Insula Association – Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Diabetics, the Minors Association for the Homeless and Vulnerable, the New Views Association for Women with Breast Cancer and Other Malignant Diseases, as well as the Los Rosales Center for Children and Youth with Developmental Difficulties.
