The KINEZIS Association has successfully implemented the project “School Sports – Sports for All”, designed to promote the importance of school sports and encourage children to develop a healthy and active lifestyle within educational institutions in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The project was co-financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science.

Through practical activities, the project included four primary schools in Mostar: Cim Primary School, Bartol Kašić Primary School – Rodoč, Ivan Gundulić Primary School, and “Mustafa Ejubović – Šejh Jujo” Primary School. Students and teachers from these schools were introduced to the program marking the European School Sport Day, the largest European event dedicated to promoting school sports, and actively participated in its activities.

In addition, in coordination with the teachers, sports equipment was provided to the schools to improve the quality of Physical and Health Education classes and to enable more effective engagement in sports activities.

The president of the KINEZIS Association, Prof. Dr. Franjo Lovrić, emphasized the importance of joint efforts by all stakeholders in promoting sports, and particularly highlighted the positive example set by the Mostar City Sports Association in organizing school sports competitions as a shining example of the development of school sports.

Sports during childhood and adolescence play a crucial role in children’s development – strengthening physical and mental health, reducing stress, boosting self-confidence, and developing social skills. By participating in sports, children learn teamwork, communication, respect for rules, and fair play, shaping them into responsible and active members of society.

The “School Sports – Sports for All” project has demonstrated that through the joint efforts of schools, teachers, and the local community, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, better conditions can be ensured for healthy development, an active childhood, and a lifelong love of sports.

The project “Let’s Activate Trimuša” is a continuation of the previously implemented project “Sport for Inclusion”, carried out with the support of the grant scheme City for All – Civic Actions. The main goal of the project is to promote the importance of physical activity across all age groups and to highlight Trimuša Park Forest as the most important sports and recreational oasis in the city center of Mostar.

The benefits of movement and sports activities are well known not only from the perspective of physical and mental health but also as a means of socialization and community building. However, in modern living conditions, there is a noticeable negative trend of physical inactivity (hypokinesia), primarily due to a lack of time, adequate conditions, or financial resources for active leisure.

In response to this situation, we aim to offer various groups of citizens—including vulnerable categories such as people with disabilities, children, women, and the elderly—activities that are easily accessible both in terms of proximity to their place of residence and minimal financial cost.

Trimuša Park Forest, with its trim trail, basketball court, children’s playground, and riverside promenade along the Radobolja River, is an ideal sports and recreational area. However, only a very small percentage of citizens currently use it for these purposes, and this is what we want to change through this project.

Outline of project activities:

Inclusive sports training sessions at the basketball court on the trim trail every Thursday at 6:00 PM

Morning fitness training for women at Trimuša from April 15 to May 1 at 6:00 AM (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays)

Ecological clean-up action of the trim trail on Monday, April 22 at 4:00 PM, marking Earth Day, in cooperation with the civic initiative “Together for Trimuša”

Mindfulness meditation workshop in nature for women on Saturday, May 25 from 8:00 AM

Lecture on the harmful effects of screen time and the importance of movement for children and youth

Sports Saturday – Family day at Trimuša on Saturday, June 1, starting at 8:00 AM

Our association is implementing “Let’s Activate Trimuša” thanks to the project Mostar – Spaces that Move, funded by the Government of the United Kingdom and supported and implemented by local organizations People in Need Bosnia and Herzegovina, the association NEŠTO VIŠE, Agency for Local Democracy Mostar, and OKC Abrašević.

Play and sports activities are an integral part of life for people of all ages, especially children and youth. Beyond physical and psychological development, sports play a significant social and community role in children’s lives. Sport represents a universal human good. It is one of the most expressive forms of human creativity and communication with others. Because of the undeniable value of sport, the doors of sport should be open to all citizens of the City of Mostar. Accordingly, the main goal of this project is to create an inclusive environment through training and participation in sport and physical activity among various social groups, especially marginalized groups, including people with Down syndrome.

Join our sports training sessions, open to everyone interested! They take place twice a week in the afternoons at the basketball court on the Trim trail in Bijeli Brijeg and at the “Zlatko Dalić” University Sports Hall within the Rodoč campus of the University of Mostar. The training sessions are free of charge. For more information about the schedule and times, please call +387 63 548 958. The inclusive nature of the trainings will also include guest appearances from other sports groups in the Mostar area, who will showcase their sports.

In addition to the trainings, the project will organize educational workshops and lectures, which will also be free and open to all interested participants.

All activities within the project will be announced in a timely manner on our official website www.kinezis.ba and on social media:
Facebook: “Udruga Zdrav život – Kinezis” https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064286671522
Instagram: “Kinezis.ba” https://www.instagram.com/kinezis.ba/
